What a clutch master cylinder does

A clutch master cylinder converts pedal travel into hydraulic pressure for the clutch release circuit. Disben supplies integrated- and remote-reservoir versions in aluminium or cast iron, bore 15.9–23.8 mm, with EPDM seals rated for DOT 3 and DOT 4. Plastic-bodied assemblies made for one vehicle platform are not reproduced, and we say so at quotation stage.

What decides whether it fits and lasts

The clutch master cylinder turns pedal travel into pressure. Its two failure modes are boring and predictable: a cup that swells in the wrong fluid, and a reservoir joint that weeps. Both of them are decided by the part number.

01

Body

Cast iron or aluminium, with the reservoir integrated on the body or fed by a remote tank. Which one a vehicle uses is a property of the part, not a preference.

02

Bore and cups

Bore across this line runs 15.9–23.8 mm. Cups are EPDM for DOT 3 and DOT 4 — clutch hydraulics share the brake fluid, so the same compound rules apply.

03

Reservoir interface

The joint between reservoir and body is where a clutch master usually weeps first. It is part of the part number, not a universal fitting that can be swapped between variants.

Quality control

How it is made and checked

A clutch master that weeps is a comeback, not a warranty statistic. The checks below target the seal and the joint specifically, because that is where the failure starts.

1

Sourcing, not manufacturing

We do not own production lines. Each reference comes from an audited factory, with at least three sources compared before a price is quoted.

2

100% pressure and leak test

Every unit held at 1.5× working pressure, recorded per batch — including the reservoir joint, which is the first place a leak shows.

3

Three-stage inspection

Pre-production audit, during-production monitoring and an AQL pre-shipment check, with photographs before the container is loaded.

4

Paired with the slave

Where a customer replaces both, master and slave ship from the same batch direction so the seal compounds match. SGS, BV or TüV on request.

Coverage & cross-reference

Where this line is used

The clutch master cylinder sits on the pedal box and feeds the slave through a single hydraulic line. Bore range 15.9–23.8 mm across the line; integrated and remote reservoirs are both covered, and the reservoir interface is part of what the OE number fixes.

  • Manual-transmission cars and LCVs
  • Markets where the clutch is still a wear item, not a sealed unit
  • Workshops replacing a unit with a leaking seal
  • Fleets standardising on one part number

7–15 days

Dispatch for references already held in stock.

25–45 days

Production for a reference that has to be made.

200 lines

One inquiry list answered as one quotation, within a day.

Cross-referenced against TRW, LPR, Metelli and A.B.S. numbers. A quotation names every reference a part number covers, so your counter can check it against stock before you commit.

Private label packaging for brake and clutch cylinders: box, label roll and branded carton
OEM & private label

Your brand on the box

Clutch masters are usually sold as a pair with the slave, so the labelling has to make the pairing obvious to a counter hand. That is a packaging decision, and it is free.

  • One logo file covers box, bag, part-number label and master carton
  • Master and slave marked as a pair so the counter cannot split them
  • Unlimited artwork revisions before the first production run
  • Registered marks on file: RTYPER, RAWBOW and 福步
